Just whipped together an animation of the San Diego Fires from some recent MODIS scenes that I grabbed from the MODIS Rapid Response System. I put the animation together using GIMP.

Already rectified…just mashed them together as an animation in GIMP. Probably could have used ImageMagick, but didn’t.

Very cool map. It’s crazy how visible the smoke was from space, being that people (me included) were only a few miles away. I was surprised how quickly everyone moved on — I think it helped that the Chargers won at home that week!
